M Thank you. So can we talk about where did we meet first them?

M no, no, it's not…

B NOOOOO! MahaRose!!

Oh my God, yeah, I remember, yes, it was pre pandemic. Damn it. It was January of 2020 at maharose in the old space in Greenpoint. We were both doing community Reiki, and, I don't know, I was just kind of like, drawn to, you know, like, we had a lot of we had a lot of practitioners and then we would work on clients, but we had a spot where we would like, drink tea and wait for shifts and I hung out there With you. Yeah. And I don't know, I just like I wanted to talk to you.

M Oh. Thank you. Yeah, I think I think so. I think it was like a maharose.

B Yeah yeah yeah yeah it was now how it all came back. Yeah.

M All right. So we have a little question, but do want to start eat it?

M That's true!

B And I love to cook with color as well. Right? I mean, I love food, but I love to cook with colors Yeah.

M Roast Beets is always so good!

B yeah.

M And I put on a bunch of different seasoning too.

M And also I made this one is parsley cashew nuts dressing. Omg so good:) I love this salad so much! It is not first time to make this but It’s takes time little so I don’t make offten. I have to roast a vegitables And preparing for bunch of ingredients.

B did you roast out. Carrots too.

M That's good. All right.

So the second question is what does your own healing walk looks like now.

B Like oh for myself. Yeah. Yeah.

M if you want a share

B Yeah of course I want to share. It's like I think it's like, multiple things that, that I do. One thing that I'm super excited about, I started this is more I'm going to get more in the emotional later.

B I'm going to start off with a physical. That I'm super excited about because I've been doing it regularly every morning now for like six, seven weeks, which is super rare for me because for me regularity with physical stuff is really I kind of start and then I fall off, but I'm doing this sequence that's called the Five Tibetans.

B It's basically yoga, but it's yoga that was done in Tibet, and it's only five sequences, so it doesn't take you that long. And I've been super happy that I've been doing that, regularly. So other things that I do for my own healing is, I have a somatic therapist, that I see twice a month. So, she does a certain I didn't know about this practice until I got introduced to her when she was a student.

B She was giving stuff for free for her hours, but, it's called hakomi. and it's been around from the since the 70s. It's, I guess, an American like psychologist that took a lot of things from traditional therapy. And then from, Buddhism and like eastern kind of philosophies. But a lot of it is just to kind of like really slow down your nervous system to go, like really, really slowly and to go inside.

B And then I do it on zoom. But she kind of like, guides me, working together. I think we're starting like our fourth year now.

M wow.

B and that's been like really, really helpful to see kind of like how my body reacts to certain things like, you know, like with, like when you talk about certain things.

B So anyways, that's, that's been really good. And then, I've also been and we just celebrated our sixth year this month. I've been in a 12 step program for six years for, adult children of alcoholics. My mom was an alcoholic, so, so, yeah, that's been, like, incredible for me. Like, that opened a whole different universe for me because, I'm new.

I've known that my whole life, but I didn't really know how to deal with my mom's alcoholism until, like, you know, until the end of her life. Until the end. Then it, So, anyways, that's that's Yeah. And then I tried to do self Reiki as much as I can. I go to an acupuncturist that is also a cranio sacral, practitioner.

So I, I switch between sometimes acupuncture and Cranio sacral. Yeah. I try to be nature as much as I can, but that, that could be something that. Because that's really healing. But yeah, I don't do it as often as I would like to. Yeah.

M Thank you so much for sharing. Yeah, I know, so I mean, so many of us, like, as a practitioner, we have our own path. And, yeah, that's why, we can use more empathic way to connecting someone who has the same experience. But, you know, it's sometimes it's hard to share too.

B Absolutely.

M Thank you so much for sharing. No. All right, all right. And then next question is what’s New York City treating you, what do you like about New York City?

B What do I like? That's a great question. And I always like I try to think of that, especially the longer that you are here. Like, what is still kind of what excites you about here? I think for me, it's been always kind of like the type of opportunities that you can get here work wise, and the type of people that you can meet and the type of like experiences that you, you know, if you are seeking something, you know, you can probably like find it here, whether it's a certain, technique that you want to learn or a certain cuisine or a type of music that you want to like, listen to. etc..

M Beautiful.

m So sorry. I'm just eating:) you just talking. It's, you know,

B I'm saving the cheese and the bread. They're so good!

M Okay this is interesting question. What do you wish more people understood about your work.

B What do you say about it like. Oh my.

Mwhat do you wish about it. You know, some of people doesn’t understand when we talk about Reiki. It’s like.I don't know, like, you know, still so many people thinks skeptical about it.

B But one thing that I wish that they kind of, like, make the connection because, you know, we talk in Reiki about, like, we work with the energy of the body, the energy field.

Yeah, yeah, whatever you want to call it. But yeah, in simple terms, like you carry your energy with you 24/7.

M I mean, yeah, I think probably after we die. Still some kind of energy surrounding

B probably, probably probably. So I think it'd be nice that they understand that actually what we work with is something that you like to carry in everyday life, whether you're like, stressed or happy or excited, like, it all kind of has an effect on your body in a good way and in a maybe sometimes not so good way.

If you're not, like, taking care of yourself, right? Thoughts, your actions, your words. So, yeah, I think that like, in that way, I'd like it'd be nice if people understand, like, yeah, energy is something that's really part of me. It's not like so. And there are ways and techniques to kind of, you know, regulate that. Or if you need to be more calm to get it or if you're like, you know, too depressed, like, you know, so things like that, that it can kind of like modulate that. As a practice that's complimentary.

M Right. That's true. Also like well how can I explain that. What is like a difficult? for like interacting with so many energy or so like some of people carrying a lot of energy. Like how do you interact these people. like do you have any technique for it.or do you reccomend someone to some technique?

B Well, I think it's for any practitioner. But I had an interesting conversation once with a therapist who actually trained in Reiki. and he said,he felt that like in Reiki, there are certain protocols, like in your training that you have how to make a kind of like shield yourself. And, you know, it can be like an imaginary egg or bubble or something.

Like where. Yeah. one of my teachers I really liked, her saying of kind of actually, she wasn't reiki teacher herself. She was a sound healing teacher. But it's there overlaps like that. there is a literal border that your body and and there is a border that the other person's body, energetic body starts interacting.

And you kind of work with those tools, knowing where your border is, knowing where their border is. And I like the word in English to mesh, meaning like, and you don't want that when you're like approaching. Well, I think like you don't want that. But anyhow, even if you're not a practitioner like, you know, I think the best example is sometimes you go to a party and there's like somebody who's energy, you're not like vibing what you don't want to like you can speak with them, but you don't want to like mesh with that.

M No, we can synchronize but not mesh

B Yeah. So I think but I think it could be like applicable like in, in everyday life it's not you know, the best example is always like when you have like stressful interactions at work and most people work and most people have like difficult times sometimes in their work environments, it doesn't matter where you work

And that's kind of like, another example.

M right,When that's so true.

B Because when you think about it, if you work full time, you're 40 hours a week with your coworkers, which is more time. You start with your family…

M so many of us a working as a full time… you know. Well, yeah, that's a really good point.

Thank you so much for sharing. Oh, right. So next question is, okay. What are you nursing yourself these days?

B What am I like?

M What's like nursing yourself Yeah. Watching a movie or a walk around. Yeah. taking bath or singing. etc..

B Sometimes singing. I love, like, sometimes, like, I don't know if you know what I do sometimes when I'm hot, I like that, I do it most spontaneously when I'm home alone.

I live with my husband, but he works from home, so, Oh, I see, but sometimes what I love doing is when a silly idea comes to my mind. I like to, like, record myself and make, like, a silly video or like, a silly dance or something like, yeah, I did one like, recently where, I think it's from a Halloween or something?

I have these, like, golden shorts. And I heard some sort of music, and I just kind of, like, wanted to, like, do, like a silly dance to, like, a says, sound of song and whatever. And I just, like, I was alone and I took, like, I put, a stand, like you have here for a phone.

I put it on the floor and I just kind of, like, danced and took a video of it. And then I edited out the words, and I sent it the other day to a friend for her birthday. Oh, God, I hope that there's a lot of booty shaking in next year because I'm like, shaking my booty a lot in that video. And the golden shorts. Yeah.

M It's so cute. Yeah. It is. Yeah. And it's nice, release. like Just be yourself!

B just to be, like, silly for yourself and to crack yourself up. I love doing that. But I don't do it as often as. Yeah, I like, do.

M That's so nice. That's so you:)

both laughing:):):)

B salad is delicious by the way.

M eat more I have more,too!

M Thank you so much for joining me. tiny my home in Brooklyn NY:
